Part-Time Courses for adults at Southport College

Courses for Adults

Whether you are looking at improving your skills, changing career, gaining a professional qualification or just want something to fill your free time, we have a range of courses to suit you.

As well as teaching expertise, our tutors have real-life experience in their subject, meaning it’s not simply the theory that will be passed on to you but also first-hand knowledge and skills. With subjects like construction, accounting, maths, English, IT, health and social care, beauty therapy and photography, we are sure to have a course suitable for you.

Southport College offers part-time courses for adults at its campus in Southport.

Combine this with extensive facilities and excellent support available to all of our students and it’s clear that Southport College is the first choice for adult learners. Each year thousands of adults discover new talents, brush up on old ones and enjoy broadening their minds with Southport College; why not join them?

Return To Learning With No Up Front Fees!

Thinking of studying a level 3 or level 4 course at Southport College? There's a way to fund your studies with no up-front fees and nothing to repay until you're earning £25,000 a year. The even better news is that if you progress from an Access to HE Diploma course to complete a HE course, then your outstanding loan for the Access course is written off.

It's a great opportunity as these loans help you to pay the tuition fees charged by Southport College. Most learners aged 19 and over studying at level 3 or above will qualify for these new loans. There's no credit check and you don't have to pay anything back until your income is over £25,000!

We have an amazing range of courses to choose from including:

  • Access to Higher Education courses
  • Accountancy (AAT)
  • Counselling
  • Electrical
  • Gas
  • Teaching Assistants

And many more

Our courses are designed to help you achieve industry recognised qualifications and find work and at the same time could even set you up in your own business

To get a loan you must be:

  • 19 or older on the first day of your course (there's no upper age limit)
  • Living in the UK on the first day of your course, and have lived in the UK, the Channel islands or the Isle of Man for 3 years immediately before this
  • Taking an eligible course that is level 3 or 4

Getting a loan doesn't depend on your household income and there's no credit check. Repayments start the April after you complete or withdraw from your course.

You pay back your loan (plus interest) when you finish your course and earn more than £25,000 a year. Your repayments will stop if your income drops below £25,000 a year.

Your annual repayment amount will be 9% of any income you earn over £25,000.

Your monthly repayments would be:

  • £15 a month - if you earned £27,000 a year
  • £37 a month - if you earned £30,000 a year

You can make voluntary repayments if you want to pay off your loan more quickly.

If the loan is for an Access course and you subsequently go on to complete a higher education course, you don't have to pay the loan back at all.
