What Is An Apprenticeship?

As employees, apprentices earn a wage and work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on a day-release basis, apprentices receive training to work towards nationally recognised qualifications. Your salary will meet the National Minimum Wage for Apprenticeships; however many apprentices earn significantly more than this. Becoming an apprentice is a fantastic opportunity to get paid while you gain both valuable experience and a formal qualification.

How Do I Become An Apprentice?

If you are not employed you should prepare a CV and can submit it to us by emailing it to You must either already be in employment or find a business who is looking to hire an Apprentice. Southport College will then work with the business to devise the most appropriate Apprenticeship training course.
