Staff members’ charity challenge takes them to the top

This year three Southport College staff members took on the challenge to climb to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro raising nearly £4000 for North West Cancer Research.

John Knight, Lindsey Sutton and Alexa Sutcliffe travelled to Tanzania over the summer, successfully reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro and taking invaluable teaching resources and gifts to a local school.

John said “It was incredibly difficult but massively rewarding. We were also able to visit a local primary school and give the staff there some teaching resources and treats for the students. I think the whole village is now writing with Southport College pens! We like to particularly thank Annie Turner who also made us awesome hats and neck warmers that kept us warm during the freezing nights.”

The three explorers raised a total of £3,846.85 for North West Cancer Research from fundraising activities including a bake sale, quiz night in Clouds Restaurant, casino night at Fleetwood Hesketh and through their JustGiving page.
