Southport College Vocational Foundation Programme (School Links)

The Vocational Foundation programme, organised in partnership with local schools, is aimed at Year 10 pupils and will provide:

  • High quality impartial careers guidance
  • Enable pupils to make informed choices about which courses suit their academic and aspirations.
  • Being prepared for the next stage of their education, employment, self-employment or training
  • Understand how their education equips them with the behaviours and attitudes necessary for success in their next stage of education, training or employment and for their adult life

Pupils will have the opportunity to complete 3 X 10 week vocational programmes.  The three programmes will be in different vocational areas chosen by the pupils and will comprise of sessions where they will gain realistic vocational experience to enable them to make informed decisions about their progression.   The sessions will be delivered by our experienced tutors, many of whom have worked in or still work in industry.

The programme will allow pupils to develop skills in these areas and this will be a foundation to build on if they choose to pursue this vocational option. During each Vocational Programme the pupils will be set targets to achieve to evidence their learning and will receive a certificate to evidence there achievement at the end of year 11.
