We are delighted to offer you a wide variety of talks, workshops and presentations about college that we can deliver at a time to suit, free of charge.

  • Year Groups: 10-11 Using our network of employers, we are able to provide a mock interview experience for pupils to gain the necessary skills required for achieving employment. With current employers passing on their knowledge and feedback, this activity aims to help them to be successful at their next interview.

We attend Careers fairs in schools to promote course options at Southport College and KGV as well as provide interactive activities for younger year groups to help them consider future careers and learning and signposting for older year groups around the appropriate next steps for them.

Careers, Skills and Aspirations.

Aimed at raising aspirations and exploring career options. In this session we will use fun and interactive games and activities and help you people to discover a range of career options and what is involved in training for a particular career.

Skills Gaps in LCR
In this session we will use data about skills gaps in LCR and information about careers options and courses to help young people to consider potential careers in those industries and how to access relevant training and work experience.

An introduction to student life, featuring an overview of the post-16 options, facilities, support, and additional opportunities available.

The assembly will explain the variety of study options, highlight courses available from September, and promote the upcoming Open Evenings.

Our tours offer an opportunity to come and see the college, get a feel for college life and see the incredible facilities on offer. We are able to talk about the entry requirements for different courses and options for building your ideal pathway.

We want to support pupils to discover and develop their skills and passions. By offering competitions in curriculum areas we encourage pupils to use their skills and offer opportunities to come and use the facilities at college gaining tips and experience in areas such as cooking and photography.

We are available to attend parents evenings for our partner schools. We are on hand to offer advice and information about post 16 courses, entry requirements and support that is available at college as well as supporting the application process.

We are available to attend options evenings for our partner schools to offer information about course options post GCSE and help pupils plan their ideal pathway.

This programme of tasters has been designed to provide young people in our local schools with varied and interesting activities to attend throughout the school year. This gives them the opportunity to become familiar with the college facilities, discover the wide range of courses available to them, and help prepare them for post-16 study.

Or…
We recognise that for some pupils, need a bit of extra encouragement to help them focus their attention all the way through to the end of the year. These in-fill tasters give schools the option to help motivate them to get the grades they need to progress onto the college course that interest them.

Visiting the college is a great experience for pupils to see what the college is all about. Coming onsite and seeing the facilities first hand helps them visualise the possibilities and opportunities that are available to them by studying a vocational course.

New for 2023 our apprenticeship workshops offer a chance to discover how apprenticeships work, some of the post 16 and post 18 apprenticeship opportunities and how this important careers pathway might work for you. This workshop is supported by the Southport college apprenticeship team.

As a new qualification takes root we offer an opportunity to discover what T Levels are, what the benefits to students will be and how they can offer an excellent pathway to certain careers with a combination of theory, practical skills and work experience.

We offer Campus Tours for potential students, teachers and parents. Contact our school liaison team to book an appointment.

You don’t need to book a place to visit us at one of our Open Events, just come along on the day. Dates for Open Evenings at our campus on Mornington Road, Southport can always be found on our events page. Everyone is welcome.

You can book onto one of our taster events yourself, however, some do take place during school times so we would ask that you get permission from your school before attending. To discuss taster options please contact our school liaison team.
