I chose to study Level 3 Graphics Design at Southport College as the first step in my career path working within the Design Industry; the course itself had amazing facilities. After finishing college, I have secured my first choice University place and will be moving on to study Visual Effects and Animation at Bolton University.

The Physicality of Abandonment

About my project

"Something that has always interested me is videogames set within an apocalyptic scenario; I love to see different artists interpretations of how one would look as they are usually rather different than one another. I am really inspired by images and locations that look truly abandoned; trying to create this within my own work was something I really wanted to experiment with for my final outcomes.

My biggest inspiration for this project was the two-part video game series ‘The Last of Us’, I personally really enjoyed playing through both games and took a lot of inspiration from the groups of people and their self-branding within my own work. I really enjoy how immersive the games are within the concept art books that they release alongside the game, seeing all of the initial designs and how they change throughout are really interesting to look at.

Though alongside this I wanted to push myself to create work that I would normally shy away from, giving me the idea to create an identity for my own apocalyptic faction known as the ‘Lurkers’. All of the work I created around the ‘Lurkers’ brand has been designed through a lot of experimentation with both traditional and digital processes. Something I really enjoyed doing was designing logos and designs for my clothing pieces, working with embroidery and screen-printing really elevated the standard of my work."
