Through our Student Information Centre, our Progress Tutors and Library Learning Centres students have access to a wide range of careers advice and information as well as assistance with UCAS personal statements, CVs and job applications.
Meet our students
Chris Carnegie, Plumbing Level 3 I chose to come to Southport College because it is close to home and also the plumbing course offered everything that I wanted. Speaking to the tutors at Open Evening really sold it to me; they are lovely and all have first-hand knowledge of the industry that they pass on to the students. The facilities here are great too; they give you a good knowledge and understanding of a real working environment in the plumbing industry. I have really enjoyed the practical learning on the course. I am a hands-on learner so this is the best way for me to learn rather than sitting in a classroom all day. I hope to progress onto an Apprenticeship next year to continue learning about the plumbing trade. In the future I want to go into the property industry.
Lewis Horner, Plumbing Level 3 Studying plumbing at Southport College has helped me to gain knowledge of the plumbing industry and has also given me the skills I need to progress in my career. The staff at College are always helpful in the workshop and in theory lessons and the workshop is really easy to work in. My next step is joining One Vision Housing on an Apprenticeship as part of the maintenance team concentrating on Plumbing and Gas work. In the future I’d like to open my own plumbing business.
