Southport College takes part in Hatter’s Digital Agency's brand new Digital Skills Hub for young people

We are excited to announce we are taking part in an exciting pilot with Southport-based Hatter's Digital Agency for their first ever Digital Skills Hub named ‘The White Rabbit Academy’.

Southport College T-Level Digital students taking part in a speed networking session with employers

This brand new 5-month initiative is designed to develop the skills, confidence, and professional network of students, readying them for successful careers in the digital industry after college. Working closely with well established employers from across the North West, students will complete an employer-set project, build close working relationships with business mentors, take part in business networking, and have a series of interactive lectures and seminars.

The programme has been created by Sarah Jackson, CEO and founder of Hatter’s Digital Marketing Agency, who has been instrumental in the design and development of the initiative. Working alongside our Employer Partnership team, Sarah created a bespoke programme tailored to empowering the skills of digital students while securing high-quality employer partners to ensure meaningful, industry-led experiences.

The White Rabbit Academy has been funded by the Department of Education’s Employer Support Fund, which is designed to support the offering of high-quality T-Level industry placements. T-Level Digital students will complete 105 hours of their work experience in The White Rabbit Academy, offering them interactive, face-to-face learning and sparking real-life working connections with industry professionals.

Hosted in Sefton Council’s brand new ‘Enterprise Arcade’ on Eastbank Street, Southport, it has provided both students and business professionals a designated space where those in the digital and creative industries can work together and thrive.

Recent reports show that the UK is facing a Digital Skills Gap with around 21 million people lacking essential digital skills, hindering the country’s economic growth. By empowering students at the very start of their careers, The White Rabbit Academy aims to not only close the skills gap and drive economic recovery but to help shape the next generation of digital leaders.

Madeleine Greenwood, Head of Employer Partnerships at Southport College’s parent company Southport Education Group, said: “The White Rabbit Academy represents exactly what modern digital education should be; forward-thinking, collaborative, and rooted in real industry practice. We’re incredibly proud to be working with employers who are as passionate as we are about nurturing local talent and strengthening the digital workforce of the future.”
