Our students, along with Assistant Principal Shaun Hindle and Construction Teachers Ralph McGuiness and Jo Graham, spent five days in New Jersey for the first ever U.S.-UK Community College and Technical Education Exchange. You can find out more about this exciting new initiative here__.
During the trip, students toured Bergen College’s facilities, explored ongoing sustainability initiatives, and engaged in collaborative sessions with American students and staff. These hands-on experiences gave our cohort fresh insight into how green skills are being integrated into education and industry in the U.S.
Their week also included a sustainability tour of the Empire State Building, visits to the PepsiCo and PSEG facilities in New Milford, experiencing the buzz of the Big Apple, and soaking up American culture.
All of us at Southport College can't thank Bergen Community College enough for their hospitality and enthusiasm. We look forward to returning the favour in 2026 when we welcome Bergen CC students to Southport College campus to learn more about our green initiatives and explore our fantastic region.
