Southport College University Centre Graduation 2019

Students Celebrate Their Success at Graduation Ceremony

Yesterday was yet another celebration for a successful year for Southport College University Centre. Students from across seventeen subjects came together with their families and friends to celebrate their achievements in the magnificent Holy...

y Church, Southport.

Student speaker Janine Bannister, who graduated with a BA (Hons) Working with Children & Families, gave an inspiring speech about her time at the University Centre. She depicted the hard work and determination which she and her fellow classmates underwent whilst achieving their qualifications. Most notably she thanked course tutors for their continued support and library staff who made a great impact when she was completing her dissertation. Janine spoke beautifully which lead to the presentation of certificates.

Each student received their five minutes of fame when collecting their certificates from College Principal, John Clarke.

Our students got the pleasure of listening to guest speaker Helena Knapton, the Senior Teaching and Learning Fellow for the Faculty of Education and PGCE Business Education Course Leader at Edge Hill University. She congratulated our students for their persistent hard work and urged them to take their next steps in pursuit of their goals.

Awards for outstanding students were also presented during the ceremony. The award for Outstanding Achievement went to BA Criminology and Social Science graduate Hayley Cantwell who achieved 95% in her dissertation and a First Class Honours overall. Joel Fletcher who studied HND Graphics gained the Citizenship award for his collaborative work as an ambassador and for producing outstanding designs and artwork which is displayed throughout the college. Finally the award for Student Engagement went to Lukas Allsworth a HNC Engineering graduate for his continued support and hard work promoting the college within the local area.

Despite the turbulent weather, our grandaunts remained in excellent spirits, finishing the ceremony in the parish centre for prosecco and cupcakes.

Congratulations Class of 2019! You should be proud.
