Facilities Workshops

Engineering

Southport College has industry standard workshops with the latest equipment to prepare students for working within that sector.

Bricklaying students have designated spaces in which they can build structures using the same tools and equipment as those used by professional bricklayers. The electrical purpose-built workshops enable students to practise the skills they will be using in the trade. Our engineering department has benefitted from a £1.3 million refurbishment project providing students with a new, modern e-learning classroom and an extended/refurbished workshop housing £150,000 of new equipment.

In addition our motor vehicle department has two fully equipped on-site garages, MOT stations and tyre fitting bays. Students have the opportunity to work on up to 10 vehicles in the workshops using industry standard equipment preparing them for real work environments.

For painting and decorating students we have a custom-built workshop which has specially designed areas for them to practise their painting and wallpapering skills. Our plumbing and gas workshops are kitted out with essential equipment within a realistic working environment for students hoping to work in this sector.
